Argentine Stocks: Aluar Aluminio, Grupo Galicia and Ledesma Gain

The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of 4:01 p.m. New York time.

The Merval Index rose 0.5 percent to 3,277.87.

Aluar Aluminio Argentino SAIC (ALUA) , Argentina’s largest aluminum producer, rose for a second day, gaining 0.2 percent to 5.32 pesos. Aluminum rose to a one-week high in London.

Grupo Financiero Galicia SA (GGAL) increased 0.2 percent to 5.43 pesos and gained as much as 2.4 percent. Argentine sovereign bonds rose, signaling higher values of banks’ fixed- income holdings.

Ledesma SAAI (LEDE AF) rose 3.7 percent to 9.16 pesos, the highest level in more than two weeks. The Argentine sugar producer rose in line with sugar prices in New York, which gained as commodity-demand concerns eased.
